Sexual exploitation

An individual controlled for the purposes of sex. Control may be in the form of violence, threats, deception, grooming, substance abuse, physical and/or psychological abuse.

Forced labour

An individual trafficked for forced labour is work done under threat of violence to self or family for little or no money. Victims can be further controlled by debt bondage. Deception, physical and psychological abuse are common tactics used by exploiters.

Criminal exploitation

An individual is forced to commit a criminal activity such as cannabis cultivation, forced begging, stealing or benefit fraud. Control tactics as those used above are used here as well.

Domestic servitude

An individual forced into domestic servitude has to live usually in a private household performing mostly domestic chores and childcare duties. Freedom is often restricted and can often work long hours for little or no pay, often sleeping where they work.

Organ Harvesting

An individual trafficked for organ harvesting has their organs removed for sale without consent.

Flourish works with all survivors of human trafficking. Whether it is a girl brought to Northern Ireland and sold repeatedly for sex or a father who came here trying to support his family at home.

Flourish believes in the value of every life.
